Homework Timetable To Help Support Your Child

At Coppice Performing Arts School, homework is an important and critical tool to support learning and to help prepare your child for life beyond school.

We ask parents and carers to encourage students to complete their homework on time and to the best of their ability. Below we have outlined some useful guidance to help you support your child’s progress.

Some of the key questions parents often have are:

How often will homework be set for my child?

The Coppice Homework Timetable details the amount of homework that your child will be set each week per subject. Please see overleaf.

What type of homework will be set for my child?

You can expect a variety of homework tasks to be set. Tasks may vary from completing worksheets to online tasks to project work. Parental involvement and encouragement is very much appreciated.

What extra support is there for my child?

  • Homework club runs every lunchtime in Creative Zone and after school from 3.00 – 4.00 p.m in Discovery zone.
  • Homework Club is particularly helpful for students who prefer to complete their homework within school or require
  • I.T access.
  • Learning support team run an additional Homework Club every morning from 8.00 – 8.30 a.m to and Monday – Thursday lunchtime’s in LSC.
  • www.doddlelearn.co.uk is a great one stop revision/extended learning website.

How can I support my child?

You are asked to check and sign your child’s homework planner on a weekly basis. You can then see what homework has been set and can help your child to manage their workload by spreading it across the week.

Will my child be recognised for completing homework to the best of their ability?

We believe that students learn best and achieve more when they are recognised for their efforts. We reward students for good homework through our main reward system, which is the “Vivo” system. In addition to this, students will be rewarded every half term for ‘Exceptional Homework’.

What are the consequences if my child fails to complete homework?

Failure to complete homework will not be tolerated and will result in a B2 detention of 30 minutes. If the problem persists then you will be contacted to discuss this matter further and seek your support.

If you have any questions or concerns about homework then please do not hesitate to contact your child’s form tutor, subject teacher or Head of House where they will be happy to support. If you have any general issues regarding homework then please contact Mrs Brackenridge by telephone or by email at  sbrackenridge@coppice.wolverhampton.sch.uk.
